Wanda Sue Roberts

Wanda Sue McMurry Roberts, 81, of Signal Mountain, TN took her last breath on November 11, 2020 in her home surrounded by family. Sue is best known in the community for her life’s work as an educator. She was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University and nurtured countless young lives in her elementary classroom for decades as she effectively and patiently taught with confidence and compassion. Her talents extended beyond the classroom and included many artistic and creative endeavors – drawings, painting murals on walls, sewing clothing and imaginative Halloween costumes, gardening and more. Her children have fond early childhood memories of planting seeds to watch them grow into beautiful plants and flowers: zinnias and marigolds were favorites. Sue adored her grandchildren who were also fortunate recipients of her kind and loving spirit. Teaching moments abounded, and learning never ended. Always feeding her mind, Sue was a voracious reader, consuming several books a week up until a month before her passing. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Louis “A.L.” and Evelyn McMurry; husband, Warren Patton “Pat” Roberts; brother, Louis McMurry; and granddaughter, Sophia Joy Parham. Survivors include her sister, Joan Barnes; daughter, Andrea Roberts Parham; son, Warren Patton Roberts, Jr. (Melissa); and grandchildren Patton James Parham, Rangely Elizabeth Lyn Roberts and Pierce Devlin Roberts.
