Sandra Kay Smith, 72, of Chattanooga, TN passed peacefully early Thursday, February 14th, 2019.
She loved traveling, playing with her cats and dogs, cooking and raising her kids. Sandy was a beautician, working on the Miss USA pageant for a number of years. She was a gymnastics instructor and judge at Woolmarket Gym in Biloxi, Mississippi. She lived in Scotland and Australia, traveling with her husband while he was in the Navy, settling in Savannah, Georgia before coming home to Tennessee to be with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father Royce Raines Sr., her mother Millie Raines, and her daughter Samantha Smith. She is survived by her husband, J L Smith, children Kimberly (Phillip) Smith, Kendra (Joe) Bandy, and Jaime (Jennifer) Smith, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Sam, Bella, Chelle, and Noah, her brothers Royce (Gail) Raines, Jr., Dennis (Pam) Raines, Joel (Debbie) Raines, and her lifelong pen pal Leonie (Neal) Stockdale of Australia.
The family will receive friends at Lane Funeral Home from 2-4pm Sunday, February 17, 2019 with funeral service to follow at 4pm officiated by Rev. Joseph Hedrick.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sandy’s name to McKamey Animal Center.
