Norman “Zane” Power, peacefully passed away from cancer October 6, 2020, surrounded by his family. Zane was born May 22, 1954, the son of James “Snowball” and Louise Power, in Hamlet, NC. He married the love of his life, Teresa in 1977, and three years later welcomed their son, Damien. Zane’s career spanned 35 years at ConocoPhillips, serving a variety of roles where he was greatly respected for his intelligence, strategic vision and dedication to his profession. He made many, many lifelong friendships throughout the course of his career, all of whom respect and cherish him to this day. He was best known for his passionate love of sports, but most especially the University of North Carolina Tarheels basketball. Zane made lifelong friends around the world through his generosity and dry humor. His most recent achievement was the pride he took from serving as church treasurer for Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he brought joy to the congregation week after week, and deeply loved his church family. Teresa, Damien and daughter-in-law, Mandy all reside in Chattanooga, along with best friend Rick Reddick, kitties Pansy and Lily, as well as grand-dog, Buttons. He is also survived by uncles, Gary Lovin of Hamlet, NC and Franklin Lovin of Pensacola, FL; nieces, Wendy Roderick of Castle Hayne, NC, and Jamie Gerald of Hamlet, N.C. Memorial service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1441 Crawford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421 on October 17, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Zane’s memory.
