Mary Merita Rains

Mary Merita Rains, 90, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Merita was a resident of Chattanooga, TN and a member of Mountain Creek Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earnest Peardon; second husband, Robert Rains; parents, Roy and Georgia Coppinger; sister, Mildred Wyman; brothers, James Coppinger, Richard Coppinger, and Butch Coppinger; and great-great-grandson, Wyatt Eggert-Michaels.

Merita is survived by daughter, Joan Whitmire of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Judy Clark of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Rita Stevens of Henagar, AL; step-son, Bobby Rains of Dunlap, TN, sister, Melba Phillips of Hixson, TN; sister, Lynda McNeece of Pass Christian, MS; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Service will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Burial will be at Coppinger Cemetery.
