Lenita Queen Wilson

Lenita Queen Wilson passed away November 24, 2022 at Erlanger Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her father, Neil Queen and mother, Juanita Queen. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Wilson; her children, Neil and Rachel; sister, Valerie Goodwin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.  Lenita graduated from Central High School in 1968 and graduated from Tennessee Temple University.  She finished her education with a Master’s Degree in Psychology from MTSU. She taught psychology at Tennessee Temple University.

We married in 1980, had our children.  Lenita worked at SCT Credit Union, H & R Block and worked in her family’s rental business, JNQ Rentals with me.

Lenita enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes and cook books.  She could take recipes and by tasting alone, reproduce it. She enjoyed road trips and traveling.

Lenita was a devoted mother and wife. She had health problems, starting three years ago.  She had to cut back on her time at work.  As her health got worse, we both retired so we could spend more time together and with our family. Time we all cherish.

Monday before Thanksgiving. Lenita had a massive stroke. After tests, we found that she had more brain damage that could be repaired. Wednesday, she was taken off life support. She passed away Thanksgiving day, peacefully.

It is hard to watch a spouse and friend you’ve known for over 40 years pass. I don’t know how anyone could get through it without the comfort of the Holy Spirit and of scripture in II Samuel Chapter 12, David lamented the possibility of his son’s death, but when he found that his son had died, he accepted it. He said, “my son is no longer with me, but one day I will go to him.”

There is comfort in the message of Jesus Christ, that through His promise to forgive our sins and promise of salvation, we will be reunited with our loved ones.

Lenita was interred in Chattanooga National Cemetery November 30, 2022.
