John Richard Hudson

John “Richard” Hudson, 71, of Hixson, passed into the presence of Jesus on November 12, 2020. He was a graduate of Chattanooga City High School class of 1967 where he played baseball. After graduating, he served in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years. He worked at the Chattanooga DuPont plant for 34 years and then retired from Alstom after 7 years of service. For many years, “Gramps”, as he was lovingly referred to, spent his mornings watching grandkids during the day before going to work 2nd shift and he never complained. He spent his life loving his family, attending ball games and programs for his grandchildren, and he especially enjoyed his time with his siblings. He was the proud owner of a 1936 Packard, which was truly the only material possession he ever asked for in his life. He trusted in Jesus Christ as his savior on July, 28, 2000. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth Justice, father, Roy Hudson, stepfather, Pete Justice, and brothers, Gary Hudson and Jimmy Hudson. Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years who treasured him, loved him, and spoiled him, Janie Sue Hudson, and his two children to whom he was their hero, Jennifer (Drew) Rimback and Brandon (Meagan) Hudson. He is also survived by his sister and brothers, Terrie Barton, Stanley Justice, Ken Shrum, Ron Shrum, and many nieces and nephews. Anthony, Eli, Jacob, and Audrey Rimback will miss their Gramps tremendously. The family would like to thank the staff at Erlanger, Kindred, and Siskin Hospitals for the love and care shown to him for the past 51 days.  We would also like to thank the hundreds of family and friends that have been praying for him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 12 to 2pm at Lane Funeral Home with procession to follow to Hawkins Cemetery in New Salem, GA for a 3:30pm graveside service with Rev.
