Carolyn Garner Atchley Obituary
Carolyn Garner Atchley, 86, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord June 8, 2019. She was born to the late H. Lester and Eva Garner March 12, 1933. A short time after graduating from Cedar Bluff High School, she moved to Chattanooga to work at Dupont, where she met the love of her life. After 17 years at Dupont, she became a stay-at-home mom to fulfill her primary ministry of caring for her family. She leaves a strong legacy of selfless love that deeply resonates with her entire family.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Gordon M. Atchley Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Gordon M. Atchley Jr. of Crossville and Greg G. Atchley (Melissa) of Signal Mountain; grandchildren: Bob (Katelyn) Atchley of Crossville, Dr. Taylor (Brittany) Atchley of San Antonio, TX, Derek Atchley of McMinnville, Dustin (Hailey) Atchley of McMinnville, Andy, Alex and Austin Atchley of Signal Mountain; great-grandchildren Reagan, Bo, Solomon, Titus, Easton, Eli and Zoey; and a host of loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, June 14 2019, at Red Bank Baptist Church, where she has been a member since 1959. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 11755 County Road 22, Centre, AL 35960.
